Birthday for a Tweenager

Early this morning, my wife and I were reminiscing about our early parenting days. We remembered our first night at Alta Bates Hospital in Berkeley, California.  Our tiny daughter screamed for hours. We finally allowed a nurse to take Emily so that we could rest.  The next two weeks were just as exhausting… except we did not have a nurse to help us sleep.

I hope my wife and I are able to reminisce about today too. My daughter’s voice still exceeds her size.  She is also opinionated. Loud and opinionated. We like her that way.

The photo gallery is a collection of photos from her eighth year.  I am often asked by friends and family for recent photos of my children, and I usually respond that I will upload newer photos soon…. Well, I am finally posting some more recent photos. These photos will probably make their way around the world to our family in South America, Europe, and all regions of North America. Please leave a comment, especially if you are from outside the U.S.

Beautiful. Thank you for documenting her life. I’ll need these when I’m older and my memory is totally gone.

It is one of the greatest joys of my life. And when you are older and your memory is totally gone, I will remind you how you were an incredible mother.

These are great, Brian! I love the ones of her behind the camera — it looks like she has picked up on your passion. All the best to you, Josette and the kids.

      Lauren,

Thanks. I am surprised by what and how my children see the world. Both my children are more visually literate than I was at their age. My daughter also seems more focused. I am intense, but she is super intense.

      Thanks again.

  5. We love our beautiful Emily (and Mason). My memory has gone already, but them I remember clearly. AJ
