Day of The Roses
The Rose Parade and Rose Bowl usually occur on the first day of the year. This year is an exception, because January 1, 2012 feel on a Sunday. The Rose Parade is never on a Sunday.
One day, I will return to the Rose Parade with my family and photograph the event for a publication. Until then, we will visit the San Francisco Golden Gate Park Rose Garden. In October, 2009, I wrote one of my favorite blog posts about Irvin Penn and the garden after Penn died. Penn, an influential photographer, was 92. He had also been married to the same woman for most of his life.
