I am an official photographers for the [wb_fb_f name=”bayareaderbygirls” id=””] . I have a camera, a press badge and a really cool derby name. (I am P Giddy.) One of my friends asked me how I lucked into this gig. I really do not know. I showed up one day after attending a bout. I think I will keep showing up until they tell me its time to leave.
The B.ay A.rea D.erby Girl Season Opener! was last weekend. I posted derby photos on my blog and my personal Facebook page, but many of my best photos were not seen. I combined two events into one post and the slideshows were inside the blog post. I am posting the derby photos again today so that more people can see more derby photos.

I posted the photo above of [wb_fb_f name=”Ydot.Otter” id=””] on my Facebook page. I had not noticed that the picture was very good until one of Otter’s friends mentioned the composition. I appreciate the feedback from the derby community. I learn a great deal from many different people between the next bouts. Hopefully, some of the fans will have some suggestions for how I can better distribute my good images to the people who want to see them and use them. Please share your ideas.
The derby community is strong. I photograph officials, fans, and friends. Sometimes I photograph skaters, but I photograph everyone, because everyone participates.
Sometimes I photograph skaters… skating.
I photograph the skaters celebrating and the fans participating. So much happens on derby, it is easy to fall back into old pattern and post photos on Facebook and forget to distribute the best images where people can see them. Even when I post low-resolution images on Facebook, people comment from different parts of the country and different continents.
Please help me create a simple distribution plan for the players, fans and the greater derby family. Let’s make the plan as easy as… sitting in a chair.
We can include this site and my Bryan Farley Photography Facebook page, my P Giddy Twitter site (I have twelve followers) and my website at AflatTrackMind.com (this is a redirected page from www.bryanfarley.com.)
Or, I can keep posting on FB
NOTE: I edited this page on March 10, 2014. I was going to make an obscure social media reference about my twelve derby photographer twitter followers all being the same person. The joke was never going to be funny, so I did not include it, but I forgot to delete my notes.
Joshua Diamond Would you and Ydot Idot Otter look at this and see if there is a better way for viewers to see images from this feed? Or, would there be a good way to post photos on several social media sites? What do you think?
I really can’t say. I’m not that internet savvy, really…
You are friendly and communicative. It seems that derby people are friendly. You are helpful too. I know how to take pictures, but I am still learning about derby.
